9/11 Shuffle

A few months ago I promised that eventually I would post about storied I was reading in Censored 2008. I fully expected it would be before now; but on Saturday morning I woke fresh and early and read a follow-up on a "Censored 2007" story involving 9/11. I was fired up and inspired and ready to write. I started to do a little research...

Basically, this story follows-up on all the researchers and scientists and what not that believe that the WTC buildings (specifically WTC 7) that fell were involved in some kind of controlled explosion (a la demolition). When I started looking into the stories I found a bunch of heated debunkers that are trying to call the Government out on some irregularities - but they're nothing new. What was new was the debunkers that were debunking the debunkers.

Did you catch that?

I found a heated, passionate, and thorough group of people blogging up a storm about inaccuracies and open loops left open by the people questioning 9/11. And they were good! They bring up a LOT of good questions.

So you know what I think? I think the important thing is NOT who mislabeled what picture and the 8 Million conspiracy theories. I think their are still questions and that all the commissions and reports have left us a bit in the dark. I think that more independent investigations are necessary in multiple areas. I think the best way to get to the bottom of it is if the debunkers and the people questioning THEM have to work together, with independent experts, to come to conclusions about 9/11. Screw finger-pointing! It never helps anything and just makes it less likely for people to work together.

While looking into this article that I was so fired up about really just made me trust this book less because it seems like their chief resource on this topic isn't thorough or legit; it also helped me realize how many questions are still out there about 9/11 and how it's become a taboo. You only hear about it when the President is wielding it like a shield, or Guliani for a campaign tactic. You don't hear about it as something to be research and shared with the American people. We have a right to know what happened, and if some how explosives were used we have a right to know that's how crappy the security was. I don't think it was a US government conspiracy, but I want to know if it was worse than 3 (4? 5?) planes being hijacked.

(And I feel in the interest of full disclosure I must admit: I do subscribe with the story that the Pentagon was not hit by a big ass plane. I feel like that should be shared. Thank you for your understanding :P)

You should read the Popular Science investigation debunking the September 11 myths, including the one relating to the Pentagon.
I think I gave John a copy, but here's the link: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military_law/1227842.html
